My son and I love Mexican food, however when we go out as a family, we seldom indulge in this favorite of ours because my mom is not a fan. She has been out of town this week, so it's just my son and I. I placed an order to have it delivered and couldn't have been more pleased. When I placed the order, the gentleman on the phone was very kind and helpful not to mention completely professional. After he was finished taking my order he informed me that it would be arriving in 30 minutes. I kid you not, within 20 minutes they were knocking on my door. My food was just as hot and tasty as if I were sitting right there in the restaurant. Not many people (other than the standard pizza joints) deliver in this area and I think they should all take a cue from La Sierra. Kudos on delivering to me better than what I expect when it comes to take out food. I will definitely be calling you again.

Carnitas Burrito! (((insert Homer Simpson Drool Face here))) This thing was... - huge - flavorful - came with rice and beans (duh - gotta have it) - not spicy (I drenched mine in the their homemade salsa) - needed sour cream on the side - ask for it. Love the fact that they give you a lil dessert treat - free of charge. I'll definitely come here again.

The pork chunks int he chile verde were so overcooked they were like chucks of sawdust. Totally inedible! The flavors of everything else was actually quite good. The chips were fresh and hot, the chile rellano was cheesy and flavorful, the beef in my wife's burrito was cooked nice and tender. Even the refried beans were more flavorful than most Americanized Mexican restaurants. And despite the friendly service I'm still giving this place only two stars due to such an extreme oversight as to not be able to serve a passable classic Mexican pork dish.

My husband and I love the carnitas plate and it is enough for two! The service and food are consistently good and the treat at the end is a nice touch!

Food is good, although typical "Americanized". Always plenty of food, great service, prices reasonable. Chips always warm, guacamole is above average. Is it the best mexican food in the Portland area? No. Is it reasonably good Mexican food within 20 miles? Yes!

I ordered a Supreme Burrito and was sorely disappointed with what arrived on my plate. The menu described a large burrito with guacamole, sour cream, chicken, and I think some salsa too. I've ordered similar burritos in the past at other locations and expected a nice hearty burrito I could really sink my teeth in. What came out was a skinny, limp "burrito" drenched in enchilada sauce. The sour cream and guacamole were unceremoniously plopped on top of the "burrito" as well, it wasn't even inside. Also the plate was scalding hot and as a result the enchilada sauce had formed an unappetizing top layer of film. My immediate impression was "this is just a giant enchilada that has been microwaved for way too long." I was starving though and ate the thing. The chicken was dry, the sauce was salty, and there was way too much sour cream and guacamole - most likely used to mask the flavors of the burrito. My friends who I came with ordered the 3 taco combo and the steak fajita combo. Their dishes looked as unappetizing as mine. A steaming hot plate of refried beans and dried out rice dominated their plates, accompanied by a small bowl of shredded lettuce and salsa. I did not taste the fajitas but it looked extremely oily and charred. What I did like was the free chips that came with the meal - they were warm and had a very nice crunch. Also the sorbet at the end with the cinnamon tortilla chip was a pleasant way to cleanse my palette of the atrocity I just ate.

I took my kids here because they raved about the "huge" nachos. I thought, being a single mom on a budget, it was a great idea to be able to have a "lunch date" with my kids. So, we went. I ordered them the "Special Nachos" to split for them, and the bean tostada for me. We were sorely disappointed. The beans were bland and the nachos only served one. I've been to Taco Bell where I could pay less than what I paid there and get way more for my price. However- the service was great. That is why I will go back and try it again. The salsa could have been more flavorful. I'm not giving up- maybe there was a new cook?

I really like the nachos here. And the chimichangas too. Excellent service always. The only thing I don't like is their salsa - too watery, like they just open a can of tomato sauce and add a tiny bit of onion and cilantro and call it good. It is not good.

All the reviews seems to agree that there is nothing special or authentic here. I disagree. If you know authentic - then good- go back to Mexico and get it. This is clean, fast and friendly service with filling food. You can't pass this up just because it is everything it needs to be. And free ice cream at the end...

This place is great! The other reviews that compare it to Taco Bell are a little ridiculous. This place is a no frills, small town mexican restaurant and it's perfect! The food comes out super fast, the staff is very friendly and they have TONS of options on the menu. Mexican food is my all time fave food and of course this isn't the best I have ever had but is exactly what I expected the first time I ate there. Carne Asada taco plate was yummy, the nachos are deelish and I will definitely be going back.

We were hungry and the place we were gonna go to was closed. So what did we do? Get some Mexican. It's a typical Mexican restaurant- nothing worth singing about. My enchiladas were decent enough (though pretty bland- I guess I was really hungry), and the chips were nice and hot. Oh, and it was only about 5 minutes from ordering to getting the food. I give them props for that at least.

We eat here often and bring out of town guests. Since we are Hispanic, we recognize authentic Mexican food. Very good food and service!

Good authentic mexican with consistent performance. I like the tacos (pulled pork or char-grilled chicken). Good children's menu and free dessert for everyone after ever meal. My son likes their rice.

Not a lot of options in town, but this beats El Torrero. Good giant burritos. Chips and Salsa are ok. Drinks are stiff, there's even a mini-bar area in the back. Staff is always friendly and attentive.

I have never left here hungry. The restaurant is clean. The service is courteous. The food is good. You get as many free chips as you want and they bring out some sherbet dish at dinners end for dessert. It is, in my book, a bit pricey but I suppose its comparable to other places so I cant hold that against them. They also make a pretty good hamburger if you are in the mood.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
